Architectural Alpine Escape

Fantastic Wanaka Home Base Positive: WOW. WOW. WOW. This home is AMAZING!!!! I cannot recommend this stay enough. Sometimes I am nervous to stay somewhere that does not have that many reviews, but this place was a DREAM. Check in was super easy. The location was easy to find. The layout, architecture, and landscaping is INCREDIBLE. We only stayed for two nights but wish we could have stayed for a week. Spacious. Tasteful decor. Stunning windows and design. Accessible laundry. Relaxing cedar tub under the starry sky. Breathtaking mountain views. We just loved it! We enjoyed stopping by the food trucks in town for some delicious dinner, of course we had to see "that Wanaka tree", experienced a grueling but rewarding hike up Roy's Peak, took a drive over to the blue pool track, and enjoyed the cafe and beauty of the nearby lavender farm. It was a quick but unforgettable few days. Thanks, Architectural Alpine Escape, for being our beautiful home base! Negative: I wish we would have read the Wanaka book that our hosts prepared for us immediately upon arrival. We already had a basic game plan, but I wish we would have read the book first! Especially looking for some local restaurant recommendations. But that mistake is on us! Also, if you are planning on hiking up Roy's Peak...give yourself time and set realistic goals. I am relatively in shape, but not a frequent alpine hiker. It took me 2 hrs and 15 minutes for the ascent to the smaller viewpoint (worth it!) and then an hour back down. Just a friendly heads up!

The host was excellent and provided perfect information. The home is spectacular! We loved it. Well designed with plenty of shared and private spaces. We loved the layout of the house with the outdoors being brought indoors. The sliding doors opened everything up to a magnificent view. We could not have been happier.
